Dinosaur Fossil Kit

Last night my bear cubs, dug for Dinosaur Bones, what a bunch of messy fun! I found these kits at the local Dollar Tree for $1.00, they can be found online at http://store.dinosaurcorporation.com/fossilkit1.html, they are more expensive online but still at $2.99 it qualifies for the Cheap Thrills Award!

I gave the boys a plastic bowl to work over, because it is a messy activity. You may even want to do this activity outside.  The kids tore into their packages and began digging right in - proving that guys no matter what age don’t read directions.  As the chipped away at the egg shaped ball of dry clay, the excitement went through the roof when they found a bone. Some of the guys got a little bored and looked to their adult partner for help and encouragement which made this a great activity do together. After all the bones were found we built the Dinosaurs. I purchase different dino, that that we could see all of them the types that they have are Parasurolophus, Tyrannosaurus, Dimetrodon, Dilophosaurus, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus.

By doing this activiy we are able to complete our make a model requirement for the Cub Scouts, and we overall had a great time working together, talking with our children about events going on in their life. If your child likes dinosaurs I would recommend buying  two of these kits and sitting down with your child and do this together, as you dig your way throw the dirt ask your child about thier day, talk about Dinos, even plan tomorrow with your child.
